I’m not your friend anymore…

This song, I just can’t tell you how relevant it is to my life anymore. The vibes, the melody, the lyrics, I CAN’T. RAC, Penguin Prison, and Felix da Housecat all compressed into this mp3 is almost too much for me to handle. If you haven’t heard of at least all three of them then you’re most likely not paying attention to the indie blogsphere. Yeah, be ashamed.

RAC - Hollywood Ft. Penguin Prison (Felix da Housecat Remix)

Talk about an absurdly long file name. Enjoy.

PS - I need a new friend, RAC? Penguin Prison? Felix? anyone?

Love can save us

I have to say, this song gets me flowing with cosmic energy. I don’t really know what I mean either. I listen to this and I want to fall through the universe, I want to hear the stars sing, and listen to the void whisper. Does that sound a bit mad? am I not right in the head? have I lost all grasp of reality? Well I don’t really care, all I know is that I really like this track.

Do you ever feel like no one is listening to anything you say? Well that’s pretty much how I’ve been feeling like lately. Maybe i’m not relevant enough? The world just doesn’t seem to notice you sometimes.

anyway here’s a new track by the lovely Ellie Goulding featuring Tinie Tempha. It’s whats keeping me from letting go at the moment…

Obedear - Purity Ring

I’m usually really picky in what I like and don’t like in music, which is why I think people find it hard to suggest music for me to listen too. Just last week though one of my twitter ‘friends’ suggested I listen to Purity Ring, and thank the universe I actually gave them a chance. This is exactly the kind of style of music I’ve been longing for, it’s hard to explain what it is exactly. It might be better if you just listen for yourself.

Obedear - Purity Ring

Their debut album Shrines is set to release on July 24, I’m already taking my pants off in anticipation.

Dreams

Remember how I told you guys karma has it out for me? Well she still isn’t calling it quits. I swear it’s like every time anything good happens to me karma always has a freak accident lined up ready to strike. Maybe we can strike a deal? I’ll give up my hopes and dreams for world domination and disco Fridays in exchange for whats left of my soul? Deal? no? ugh. I guess I’ll stop rambling, and get to the music…

I always find it nice to shed some new light on older songs, and Dave Edwards does just that with his remixing of “Dreams” by Fleetwood Mac. The revamped version is a little more upbeat and gives it that electropop feel that I love so much.

You’re on my blacklist karma.

Midnight City

So if you haven’t heard of M83 by now I’m just going to assume you’re irrelevant and that nobody loves you. Fortunate for you, this blog aims to make you feel relevant because isn’t that what life is all about? Probably not.

Anyway M83 is just all sorts of awesome, must be the fact that they combine two of my favorite genres indie and electropop. Their “Midnight City” has made quite the hit on the blogsphere, and it inspired the likes of The Knocks and Mandy Lee to forge their own version of the song that even the universe can be proud (btw universe I said I was sorry forgive me already). The two musical powers create a vortex of euphoria that gives the original version a run for its money. Either way check out M83’s version, its so so good.

 Do you feel swag yet?

High for this - Ellie Goulding (The Weeknd Cover)

So by popular demand I decided to start posting here again (by popular demand I mean all 3 of my readers). I’ve acquired quite the collection of music since my leave, most of which I haven’t really bothered to share with anyone. So here we go, again… you don’t know what’s in store.

The first time I talked about my beloved Ellie Goulding was when she was still unknown to most of the lamestreamers, but now a days shes hitting it big. Which is kind of a bummer, the music market has been focusing so much on her hit singles that we haven’t really heard anything new come out of those sweet sweet vocal cords of hers. Just the other day though I stumbled on this little cover she made from the The Weeknd’s “High for This”. From the moment I pressed play my body melted into a puddle of joy. I’m not going to ramble about it though, just listen in for yourself and experience it.

(oh and Ellie if you’re reading this by some fateful chance call me maybe?)

Live My Life Without Coming Up for Air

This track by Walk The Moon gets me all reminiscent about the summer days. “Anna Sun” is just one of those feel good tunes that can lighten up just about anyone’s moon. I’m sure you hipsters will love this track, so rather than ramble on about my life I’ll just leave it at that.

Why Even Try?

Fall semester is finally starting to kick in, and I’m just about getting wrecked with all kinds of school work and stress. Things are looking pretty rough now, but I’ve got some great tracks that are sure to lighten up anyone’s day (especially mine). Now generally I’m not the type of person that is attracted to hip-hip or rap, but Theophilus London is just one of those people that can appeal to just about everyone. The kids got some great diversity, and versatility in his music which is a nice. Check it.
